I do not have the exact figures of the UP polls, but all I can read in between the lines is that its a fantastic victory for the BSP. I dont know if it could be termed a cakewalk. To me it is, in sense of the results, but in terms of the sheer campaigning effort it is no means a cakewalk . Call it caste politics, an incumbent government or a coup, it dosent undermine the vote of the general public.
This is our politics. We endlessely elect the same people by a mere juggling act. This may be an oversimplification of the larger picture, but it drives home the simple point that "Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Unlike when I wrote in my previous piece about the Indian cricket team and my foresight of them demolishing Bangladesh, it turned out that we were dealt with in the opposite manner. It was just the brainy Kartik and a controlled Dhoni who saved us the blushes. Hats off to both of 'em.

The Indian cricket team did tit for tat play aginst the BCCI this morning by refusing to sign the latest contracts. The BCCI is tight lipped about the latest controversy and has postponed the negotiation for after the tour of Bangladesh. Well apart from the endorsements clause everything looks fair game in the contract. The performance clause is definetely a big hit according to my view. It is fair that the team must earn from their good performances. The big fuddle is that this may get diluted after an imminently good performance on the tour of Bangladesh. I have been unfair to Bangladesh at times, but I do expect the Tamim Iqbal's and the Mashrafe's to give out team those little jolts from which they learn. I also think it is fair that a good deal of the money should go into overall development of the cricket at the state and lower levels.

Looks like there is more news on Spidey 3, this time reviewers in UK giving it a thumbs down!! Well I cant help bowing out of this one to see something else. With heavy ticket prices in the UK, I wish to now put my money on Metro.

I might have spoken about this one before. My overzealousness about understanding the Matrix series of movies has been blessed. I visited this website lately and found it to be a rather interesting perspective. Go get hooked ----> www.thematrix101.com

Signing off for the weekend!!

Hell, Karnataka Government went amok yesterday and sought a bill to ban women working in the night!! It was targeted at the women working in the industry such as Restaurants, pubs and Hairdressing kind of jobs. They exempted women from IT and manufacturing industry.
Well, the Mahila Samiti didnt keep their quiet and have notified the Government with going to the courts. That one will go down in rage for a few days.
Well my real issue is that the Government dosent have the will to tighten security for the untoward incidents that take place. Plus, the blunder is that the statistics show, that most of these untoward incidents take place in the daytimes. Plus my view is why dont the babus look at the issue of gender discrimination at birth more seriously than taking counter measures against their own dysfunction.

Coming to a complete genre change, and on the movies, Spiderman 3 has been gaining the upperhand in the news items. Promotions for the movies have gathered heavy momentum. All this while, I have been waiting for the third installment with Black Spiderman taking form. Exciting!!
Huh!! but I have been reading a few reports and it dosent seem to be encouraging news for the movie. Will wait and watch before I sport my own review on this.

And here is one more of the exciting stuff I found on the net. The page is called Second Life!!
Its the rich brat spoiler dedication to a second life that some wish to live. It has amazing stuff like, being able to own land virtually and building a dream house. Games, recreational facilities and corporations are an added fantasy. And believe me, there is selling and buying of this virtual stuff!! Its an unique investment form and is gathering pace!! Go take a look!!

One of the catchy news I read this morning was that India has dropped off to a lowly 9th in ODI rankings on the Espn website. Bet me, I know I can find India in different ranks on different websites. It errs me no end when I see opportunisitic media items like these ones. Well I have to know on what basis these people do their rankings. Looks like Bangladesh has gained from winning just 2 high profile games in an otherwise poor performance. Well am confident there will much minnow bashing from the Indian team as they tour Bangladesh.
Sticking with Cricket, I read an interesting article from Churumuri
http://churumuri.wordpress.com/2007/05/02/gillys-hidden-ball-helped-hit-more-4s-and-6s/
about Gilchrist's innings. I cant help ponder over its ridiculousness, and yet the fact remains that even without the magic squash ball, I would put all my money on Gilchrist to have played that sort of and innings. Well done Gilly!!! Bats off to u!!

Something for the management graduates except from the biggies. There was some espionage stuff from the corporate world of stealing off the trade secrets. With the already suffering graduates, who dont find a decent Summers to do, this one makes it worse. How would you confront to the additional questions in the interview about well Kaunse company ne bheja?? Add to it the woes for consumers where the dirty games and marketing strategies of one corporate is spied off to another!! Caveat Emptor Ppl!!

Another pingpong, and this time its the RSS , who have claimed that the Sikhs are Hindus. It has angered the Sikh community in Punjab no end. With the BJP and the RSS going together in the state, this one comes as a bad taste. Its got both sides arguing no ends until RSS issued a statement this morning about having a separate ideology and identity. Well when did a few oldies in khaki chadees start deciding whom to include and whom not to and also change their identity to Rashtriya Sikh Sevaks!!

On the Karan Thapar show, PR Dasmunshi gleefully accepted that he had the right to decide what was good viewing and what was bad for the Indian Society!! Well I guess we now know that he watches the Midnight Hot show, unlike us at two times a day!! No arguments, I think most of us would be happy men to be in his position as he gets to watch 24 hours of porn!! BTW thanks Sir for telling us that Midnight Hot is being shown twice a day. Our eyes aint moving from that TV set for now.
Cheers!!

I have been inspired by some of these sites I regularly visit and by my dear wife!!

Well increasingly, I have started to feel that the BJP government in Gujarat have started to fear the worse. They have had to cover their as*** up for the passport scam and more recently the encounters!! I have always had a feeling that they do not own up to their hatredness towards the minorities. Now that they claim to have killed an innocent civilian just shows us the truth. I havent been a vociferous supporter of the anti Modi movement, but always have intended that he should be thrown out. Candidly speaking I feel he is one of those sly rogues who has created carnage in the name of development.
But overall, I think the BJP has lost on the political mileage they had gathered under the incumbent Congress at the center!! Will they ever come back to the center, I doubt so!!

Interestingly, last week I was reading a few columns of note on the inflation saga surrounding the RBI!! I thought it would be worthwhile to stick it up here!! I do not however understand the saga wholesomely but its definetely pushed me to go back to my Economic textbooks.
Here it is -------> http://sumeetkulkarni.wordpress.com/2007/04/19/inflation-for-dummies-by-a-dummy/
Do read out some interesting comments and directions to some of the websites from this blog!!

There has been some news brewing around the new contracts awarded to the Australians after their World cup!! If we remember well, Jason Gillespie was a fantastic bowler in the constantly high profile Australian team. He has been struggling to find his place in the side ever since he flopped in the Ashes!! Well you could say he was reduced to Ashes!! Just a spoon of thought for the public who are disgruntled at their star players being dropped well ahem rested to say so!! That is the sense of professionalism that we need to have in Cricket if we want match the champions who has shown no respite for the other teams. I am myself a Sachin and Ganguly fan, but I think they must pull themselves up and play with clear thought!! And I am als hopeful that our team will soon match the mighty opponents!! Annihilate Bangladesh first!!

Comments are welcome!!
